      This article is a report on the 40th International Congress on the History of Pharmacy, which was held in Berlin (Germany), September 14-17, 2011. The authors provide a brief history of the Polish and international societies dedicated to the study of the history of pharmacy, and they also detail the history of the international gatherings of these scholars from the 1950s. They then provide a synopsis of the 2011 three-day congress, which took place in the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities.
