- Abstract:
South Korea's first goal yesterday, awarded by the referee in the 93rd minute after consulting the pitch-side screen, was the latest that Germany/ West Germany have conceded in their 109 matches at the World Cup. Three minutes later, the record was broken again when the Koreans scored their second goal. Before this World Cup, no team had ever scored twice in stoppage time now Russia, Brazil and South Korea have all done so. South Korea are the only team to have beaten all three of Germany/West Germany, Italy and Spain at the World Cup in the past 30 years. The victory over Spain came in a penalty shoot-out.
