- Abstract:
The article explains the importance of proper dispensing and application of topical ocular medications. Side effects of parasympatholitic-dilating agents, which include tropicamide and homatropine, include blurred vision from loss of accommodation and light sensitivity from dilation. Recommended antibiotics or ointments for bacterial keratitis include fluoroquinolone and cefazolin, and polymyxin B/trimethoprim for bacterial conjunctivitis. Also mentioned are miotic agents and alpha-agonists.
