    • Abstract:
The article reports on the revelations concerning Brazilian and U.S. politics and the relations between the two countries contained in thousands of diplomatic communications released by the leaked-document publishing organization WikiLeaks in 2010. The author, a journalist who worked with WikiLeaks to publicize those documents related to Brazil, discusses the revelations she considers the most significant, including persistent efforts by the administration of U.S. President George W. Bush to persuade the Brazilian government under President Luis Inacio "Lula" da Silva to carry out spying and other activities against Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez. The author says the publication of stories derived from the WikiLeaks documents has spurred investigative reporting generally in Brazil.
