An interview with Mr. Gheorghe Buluţă, the director of the Central Library of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy „Carol Davila” in Bucharest, highlights the importance of the book conservation and restoration activities and the role of the libraries and librarians - „a veritable nervous system of the modern society”. The very inspiring interview tries to find out: which were Mr. Buluţă's priorities when assumed the office as Director in 1998 and which was his first editorial victory, the most important - the catalogue XVth-XVIIIth Foreign Book, developed together with Mrs. Elena-Maria Schatz and printed in 2001; how UMPh library in Bucharest has appeared and which is the most valuable work in its collections - the Cologne edition from 1481 of the medieval encyclopaedia Liber de proprietatibus rerum; which are the trump cards of UMPh library (nonstop access, through electronic databases, to 14,000 foreign periodicals in the field of biomedical sciences); which are the achievements of the library (the old book catalogue, the doctoral dissertations catalogue, the catalogue containing the teachers‘ works); which are the services currently provided by the library etc. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Un entretien avec M. Gheorghe Buluţă, le directeur de la Bibliothèque Centrale de l'Université de Médecine et de Pharmacie „Carol Davila” de Bucarest, met en évidence l'importance des activités de conservation et de restauration du livre et le rôle des bibliothèques et des bibliothécaires – „véritable système nerveux de la société moderne”. L'interview se propose d'identifier les priorités de M. Buluţă depuis 1998, à son arrivée au poste de directeur; sa première victoire éditoriale importante – l'ouvrage Livres étrangers. XVII-XVIII siècles.
