- Abstract:
The article discusses the innocent heart murmurs in children. A murmur sound is produced when blood flows through the heart and the largeblood vessels that carry the blood through the body which is said to be the sign of a congenital heart defect and in children murmurs are thought to be harmless and are just the sound of a heart working normally. It also provides information on the types of heart murmers including still murmur, pulmonic murmur and venous hum. Murmurs in children occur between three to seven years of age and the intensity of the murmur changes with the child's position or breathing. It also informs that in case of palpitations, syncope and cyanosis the child should be referred to a pediatric cardiologist.
