      The authors discuss aspects of a punitive damage case in France, wherein the plaintiff detected several defects in the catamaran bought from Fountaine Pajot SA. The say that the plaintiffs were awarded 3, 253, 734 dollars by the Superior Court of California for the repair and legal costs and exemplary damages. They state that the Cour de cassation ruled that the punitive damages in the said case were disproportionate. They tackle some requirements of the French law on the case.
