The article discusses an international clinical drug trial, titled "ASPirin In Reducing Events in the Elderly (ASPREE)," led by researchers at Australia's Monash University, focused on exploring the impact of daily use of the drug aspirin on the long-term health of the elderly. The article discusses the efforts of Monash researchers Dr. Robyn Woods and Professor John McNeil to set up the clinical trial in Australia and through collaboration with U.S. Professor Richard Grimm of the Berman Center at the Minneapolis Medical Research Foundation. The article also provides a brief history of the use of salicylic acid in medical treatment.
