      The article focuses on study that was published on the website www.bmj.com which found that pioglitazone, a drug used to treat type II diabetes, is associated with an increased risk of bladder cancer. The study also showed that daily exposure to pioglitazone for more than two years doubles the risk of bladder cancer. The study analyzed data from more than 600 Great Britain general practices from the General Practice Research Database (GPRD).
