This article reviews and evaluates the usefulness to scholars of the materials/documents/photographs/diaries related to the Second World War in Poland found within archive of the Instytut Zachodni in Poznań, Poland. The author notes that this archive was created in 1946 and has been expanded upon with the passage of time, with inflows of relevant materials added from both private collections/archives, as well as from public/state/municipal/institutional archives. The collection documents the period of Nazi Occupation in Poland (1939-1945), noting, among other aspects: Nazi crimes committed against Polish civilians; the Katyń Massacre; living conditions of Poles (and displaced Poles), Jews, Ukrainians, and Germans in Generalgouvernement Poland; as well as the history of the Warsaw Uprising.
