An interview with Lucian Leape, health policy analyst at Harvard University, is presented. When asked about his focus on patient safety, he states that the initial work in patient safety was discovering what people had done in other industries. He suggests the need for students to learn more about how to think in systems, and learn more about how to collaborate with people from other specialties. He notes that medical education has traditionally focused on the individual.
