      The article discusses the use of 3D laser scanners in forensic sciences. Although scanners were originally developed for the survey market, the technology can very well be used in documenting crash and crime scenes, and has been readily accepted by the law enforcement community. An advantage to laser scanning is that all the data collected on crime scenes is preserved and the scan represents the scene as it was on the day it was captured.
