- Abstract:
The article discusses the role of online activism in British politics. It profiles web-based political campaign group 38 Degrees, which has organized mass e-mail campaigns to members of parliament on issues such as unemployment insurance work requirements. The author describes the complex results of such Internet activism, which can allow ordinary people to have their concerns heard but also work against the slow, deliberative process that may be necessary for good policy-making.
