      The article focuses on business conditions in Arab countries one year after the 2011 Arab Spring uprisings. Abu-Bakr Makhlouf, founder of a construction supply company in 2010, closed his company in Egypt and started a consulting business in Ghana. Foreign investors, who are avoiding regions where there is turmoil or militia groups fighting in the streets, can expect stiffer competition when local economies reopen.
