- Abstract:
The article discusses the work of British singer and entertainer Noël Coward during World War II. While Coward was tasked with entertaining British troops by British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, his patriotism and intellectual ability made him desire a more expanded and involved role. Coward particularly sought to be involved in various intelligence but was repeatedly asked to use his musical talent for morale-boosting purposes. This led him to star in the naval film "In Which We Serve." The account of Coward's wartime experiences in his book "Middle East Diary" largely turned public opinion in Great Britain and the U.S. against him.
