      The authors describe their research into a treatment for HIV that involves the engineering of immune cells for resistance against the virus. A system they developed of building artificial dendritic cells with magnetic beads for improved T cell culturing is discussed. Building on research findings that hereditary mutations of CCR5 proteins in some patients created HIV resistance by blocking the entry of the virus into T cells, they hope to combine gene editing of CCR5 by zinc finger proteins with their magnetic bead process to create a T-cell reinfusion treatment for HIV.
