    • Abstract:
The article discusses a study of forelimb splint bones in horses conducted by Gary Baxter and colleagues at Colorado State University. Baxter hypothesized that the bone could be safely removed based on his clinical experience. The study involved 16 forelimbs from euthanatized horses with nonorthopedic conditions. Results show that the knee is not protected from compression by splint bones and that the bones stabilize the joint to minimize torque. INSET: TIME TRAVELS.
