      As shown by quantitative x-ray analysis, Ammonites and other shells of the Opalinus Shales have preserved their original aragonite. Their calcite content is of secondary origin as shown by optical analysis. The preservation of aragonite is probably due to the low permeability of the surrounding sediment, as calcitization increases higher up in the section parallel to an increase in sand and carbonate content.       Comme le montre l'examen quantitatif aux rayons X, les coquilles d'aragonite des argiles opalines ont conservé en grande partie leur substance originelle. Leur calcite est d'origine secondaire ainsi que le montre l'examen optique.       Wie durch quantitative röntgenographische Phasenanalysen gezeigt wird, sind die Aragonitschaler der Opalinustone grö\tenteils noch in ursprünglicher Substanz erhalten. Ihr Kalzitanteil ist seinem optischen Verhalten nach sekundÄr entstanden. Die Aragonit-Erhaltung ist wahrscheinlich bedingt durch die geringe PermeabilitÄt des umgebenden Sediments, denn in höheren Lagen nimmt parallel zu einer Zunahme des Sand- und Karbonatgehalts auch die Kalzitisierung zu.
