      The article discusses how the sexual abuse crisis has influenced the training of priests. Research on sexual abuse by Catholic priests is far-reaching, however, the John Jay studies include information pertinent to seminaries. The concern about formation of seminarians implies the belief that a well-designed program can reduce abusive sexual behavior by priests. Over the past 25 years, the number of accusations of abuse of a minor by a priest has fallen for the period 1985 through 1989.
