    • Abstract:
Reckless self-indulgence can cause lots of embrassing moments and necessitate lots of apologies. A decade or two of next-day remorse can teach a considerable amount of humility. The author does not have much experience with other religions but he guesses that it would be difficult to find one that is as arbitrarily judgmental and potentially punishing as Catholicism when it comes to the church's rule of faith and morality. But forgiveness is always possible through confession and sincere penitence. The Catholic church has many rules and the rules can often seem too easy to break. But, in the end, the church is in the business of forgiveness.
