- Abstract:
This article reviews the study "Randomized Trial of Concurrent Oxytocin With a Sustained Release Dinoprostone Vaginal Insert for Labor Induction at Term," by P.C. Christensen, M. Tehranifar, J.L. Gonzalez, C.R. Qualls, V.J. Rappaport and W.F. Rayburn, from a 2002 issue of the "American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology." The study compared the use of oxytocin immediately after placement of a sustained-release dinoprostone insert with delayed use of oxytocin after removal of dinoprostone. An overview of the study population, a summary of research findings and a discussion on the limitations of the study are presented. Clinical recommendations are also given.
