    • Abstract:
The article discusses significant phases in the U.S. motion picture industry. In the early 1900's the motion picture industry was dominated by companies interested in the manufacture and lease or sale of motion picture equipment including projectors. The industry faced corruption problems including unfair pricing practices related to motion picture distribution. In 1908 the Motion Pictures Patent Company was formed to pool all the patent rights and claims in the industry. In the 1920's there exists a debate over motion picture distribution rights. Several motion picture distributors employ the policy of "block booking." This refers to the simultaneous sales of a number of motion pictures by a distributor to an exhibitor.
