The article considers the golf swing of professional golfer Rory McIlroy. A motion-analysis system is employed to examine the kinematics of McIlroy's swing in an attempt to determine the sources of his ability to hit the ball for long distances despite a relatively small body size. The speed of the turn of McIlroy's hips as he makes his downswing at the ball is cited as the main source of the power of his swing.
