- Abstract:
The article focuses on the city of Hull, England. Economic and social conditions in the city are discussed as representations of the effect of the global financial crisis and subsequent recession in Great Britain. The conversion of a dock in the city's seaport to a wind turbine manufacturing facility by the German company Siemans is considered. It is noted that Hull's relative isolation from the rest of Great Britain has been both an economic strength and weakness during its history.
