    • Abstract:
This article presents abstract of several articles on management science and operations research applications. The article entitled "The Applications of Geometric Programming to Marketing Problems," by Marcel Corstjens and Peter Doyle analyzes the optimization literature in marketing and proposes the application of geometric programming to planning channels of distribution and optimizing retail display space. Applications are discussed to a manufacturer seeking to allocate products to different channels and to a retailer trying to maximize profit from allocating shelf space to five products. Another article entitled "Practical Application of Linear/Integer Programming in Agriculture," by Keith Butterworth uses standard linear and integer programming to show how the British Agricultural Development and Advisory Service does farm planning. The article illustrates how methods that have fallen out of favor may become popular again at a time of increasing scarcity of resources. In the article entitled "Estimating the "Incapacity Time" Caused by Home Accidents Particularly Using Expert Judgments," by Tony Hindle and G. Torkzadeh the measures of "incapacity time" caused by accidents, using surveys and expert judgments have been compared.
