      The article focuses on the mission of the financial improvement and audit readiness (FIAR) at the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD). According to the FIAR Guidance for the fiscal year (FY) of 2010, the mission of the FIAR is to improve the financial data used by the decision makers in DOD. It states that enhancing FIAR may save the additional costs needed for audit readiness and auditing process. It adds that the achievement of a favorable audit will improve the integrity in the DOD system.
