      This article presents an update on criminal law in Great Britain as of October 2011. The Police (Detention and Bail) Act 2011 has received Royal Assent in July. The Coroners and Justice Act 2009 (Commencement No. 7) Order 2011 was issued in June. A consultation paper has been published by the Sentencing Council on a guideline for the sentencing of burglary offences.
