- Abstract:
The article discusses the assistance nurses should give the general practitioner during surgery. It gives practical pointers for them to follow, including ensuring that antiseptic handwashing solutions are available and anticipating the surgeon's needs. It says that a relaxed surgical team is less likely to result in an anxious patient, whose anxiety may cause tachycardia, hypertension, and reactive haemorrhage, among others. Topics discussed include sutures, haemorrhage, and cardiac arrest.
