      The article considers a dilemma for corporations which offer brand name products or services in which steps taken to maintain profit margins and stock prices when growth slows may cause long-term damage to the company's brand identity. Examples presented include the raising of fees by DVD and video recording rental firm Netflix and pricing by retail industry firm Wal-Mart, which has seen sales decline as consumers no longer assume it offers the lowest prices.
