      The article discusses the role of the sexually available mother in William Shakespeare's play "Hamlet" and the Bhagavad Gita, an episode in the Indian epic, the "Mahabharata." An overview of the "Mahabharata" epic is provided as well as the gist of the Gita. It evaluates the character of Hamlet and how Shakespeare allowed readers to view him in his moments of drama. It describes indications that Gita is a poetic text.
