The article considers foreign relations between Syria and Turkey. The failure of Turkey to persuade President Bashar Assad to end violent repression of demonstrations against his government is examined as an indication that the policy of Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu stressing cordial relations with neighboring countries has left Turkey with few options to influence Assad.
