The article reports that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has reached an agreement with six parties including Texaco Inc. ExxonMobil Oil Corp., and New York City for the first phase of the cleaning of the contamination at Newtown Creek Superfund site in New York City. It states that the parties will conduct an investigation and study and will reimburse the EPA for their oversight costs. Furthermore, the EPA will identify additional parties responsible for the creek's contamination.
