- Abstract:
The article reports on the renewable fuel content requirements that have been implemented by the government of Canada on July 1, 2011. It says that heating oil and diesel must have 2 percent content for renewable energy under the requirements. According to Canadian environment minister Peter Kent, the move would cut the greenhouse-gas emissions of Canada by 4 million tonnes per year. The criticisms about diverting agricultural land from food to fuel production are also discussed.
