The article reports on the concept of filling the holes in a photonic-crystal fiber (PCF) with nonlinear fluids for the modification of the fiber's properties. Nonlinear fluids are interesting in a way that they have the potential to generate high optical nonlinearities basically because of their nonlinear coefficients. The combination between the PCF's structure and the nonlinear optical properties of liquid can gain control over dispersion and nonlinearities.
