The article explores the health benefits of whole grains to combat obesity crisis in the U.S. and seeks opportunities for developing whole grain products. The U.S. Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) claim that whole grain may help reduce the risk of heart disease and that barley foods could reduce the risk of coronary heart disease. Fiber, which is accounted for the many benefits of whole grain promotes bowel regularity and speeds up the removal of toxic wastes. Grain varieties include wheat, oats, barley are explored to assess their benefits.
