The article criticizes the current state of the U.S. media as of 1981. It describes the reaction of the "Washington Post" to the economic plan of President Ronald Reagan. It explores the ways in which several television networks have been hostile to the Reagan administration. It argues that the proliferation of ambitious young journalists reflects the current state of the media. It argues that factor which contributed to the corruption of the media has been the fascination with exposé about everyone else's corruption.
