- Abstract:
The article discusses the results of a poll concerning the benefits of a college education in the U.S. The most commonly assumed purpose of education is to prepare people for a career and this turned out to be easier stated than defined. College graduates were asked about the most useful course of study for someone preparing for jobs. Thirty two percent suggested psychology, 31 percent business administration and 30 percent English. The poll also suggests that a major function of colleges should be to offer career information to students, from the day they enter college through the day they graduate.
