      This article casts doubts that the Communist Party will rule Italy. A survey conducted by researcher Giacomo Sani has shown the steady growth in the electoral support given to the communists, a trend that has been strengthened by the lowering of the voting age. But Sani has also measured in his surveys the depth of opposition to the communists that still subsists. While the communists have succeeded to convince the young, it is nevertheless true that 60 per cent of the new voters did not vote communist. Sani observed that the entry of the communists into the government could not be regarded as inevitable.
