The article discusses the 2010 decision by the Texas Board of Education to censor textbooks used to teach American history and social studies in public schools. Some of the revisions required by the Board includes challenges to the Constitutional separation of church and state, improving depictions of Confederate President Jefferson Davis so that he assumes a similar status to U.S. President Abraham Lincoln, and presenting positive aspects of slavery.
