    • Abstract:
The article reports on the results of a statistical study of the educational attainment of community college transfer students and juniors in four-year colleges. Factors taken into account in the study include race and ethnicity, high school academic preparation, the amount of financial aid received, and employment during enrollment. The author states that the study suggests community colleges have the potential to prepare students for four-year colleges but that a very small number of the students in the study smoothly transitioned into a four-year college. In addition, the author concludes that administrators of four-year colleges must take into account that more high school graduates begin at community colleges when considering transfer students for admission.
