      The article presents a profile of author, neuroscientist and leading exponent of atheism Sam Harris. The controversy generated by Harris and his contention that religion and religious texts offer claims of fact proven by scientific research to be untrue, thus invalidating religion, is discussed. Objections from philosophers and theologians to what they call Harris' unduly narrow definition of religious faith are considered.
