Since the end of the Cold War and the wide impact of the globalization to both dynamics and settings of the international system; and to the political systems of the countries affected by the globalization, the changes of the societies are occurring in enormous rapid way. The real question is then does the role of the political elites in the modern societies is growing up, or rather it is declining? Some of the political elites that traditionally used to exercise political power have lost their monopoly in the modern societies. The paper will seek to identify the common and divergent practices and principles of the role of the political elites in the society in various types of the political systems following the modernization and globalization process impact to the countries. What are the main factors that have been contributed for the various fields of the interdependence to reduce the strength of the historical ruling political elites? [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
