      This article presents the 2010 presidential address of the Society of Biblical Literature "Interpreters—Enslaving/Enslaved/Runagate," given by Vincent L. Wimbush on November 20, 2010 in Atlanta, Georgia, discussing the practices and institutional culture of the Society regarding race. The author addresses the struggles of the Society, along with other institutions of the mid-20th-century, to address racial exclusion and improper ideology within its operations.
