- Abstract:
The article features seven mail order plant nurseries that have adopted environmentally sound practices. Ray and Peg Prag of Forestfarm in Williams, Oregon practice recycling and make use of granular feeds rather than liquids in their irrigation system to prevent fertilizer runoff. Chris Kelly of Cottage Garden, Piasa, Illinois switched to lady bugs to protect herbaceous perennials from pests. Maurice Horn and Mike Smith of Joy Creek Nursery in Scappose, Oregon use biological controls and beneficial insects instead of fungicides.
