      The author discusses the container shipping service contract season for the 2011-2012 business year. He believes that conditions in the said business year are more stable with regards to vessel capacity and equipment availability. He added that carriers will encounter overcapacity in 2011 on a global basis. The author mentioned that some of his shipper customers still would not devote themselves to volume guarantees at specific times of the year in exchange for carrier space and equipment commitments.
