Recommandations for the Consumer in Purchasing Alpine Climbing Wear.
    • Abstract:
Recommendations for consumers in purchasing alpine climbing wear are based on studied literature and standards. Mountaineering wear consists of three layers-basic, middle and outer. the base layer includes thermal underwear and stockings, which are in charge of body sweat and steam discharges into the outermost layers of clothing. Thermal underwear and socks recommended for purchase, depending on the expected temperature range and exercise. The middle layer consists mostly of a fleece jacket and / or a t-shirt, which provides steam for further draining of the outer layer of clothing. The average middle layer clothes should be light, breathable, quick-drying and protective against the wind. The outer layer of clothing for mountaineers prevents clothes from moisture penetration and wind, drains body moisture to the outside, and protects mountaineers from minor cuts, abrasions, scratches and other external effects. However, the outer layer includes not only clothes, but also a climbing helmet and boots, rock shoes. By choosing the outer layer of clothing, focus on its moisture resistance, vapor and air permeability, wind protection. Attention should be paid to the type of clothing insulant to. Synthetic insulants are cheaper than down, they heat better, even if they are wet and dries quickly, but they are heavier, with higher volume, so synthetic insultants don't provide good insulation, they have a much shorter lifespan than down. The most suitable for beginners is to choose universal, or so-called "all around" rock shoes, but an experienced climber should choose rock climbing shoes, depending on the style, options and rocky terrain. It is similar, to the mountaineering boots. Choosing mountaineering boots, attention should be paid to the planned area (relief) and the weather, the expected duration of the hike and backpack load. There are two types of helmets- rock climbing helmets and helmets for ice climbing and combined routes. The first should be easy, right ventilated, stick to the head and absorb impact energy from all sides, while helmets for ice and the combined routes should be able to deform flexibly and to be resistant to shocks from the top. By choosing size and model of the helmet, it is recommended to focus on its relevance to the head shape, adjusting of the helmet, adjusted helmet quality of sticking to the head (also with opened strap under the chin), by moving it in different directions and helmet compatibility with a hood of jacket made of membrane material and hat, glasses, lamps, etc. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
