      The article examines library collection development related to chemistry. The need for general chemistry reference books and a chemistry encyclopedia in library collections is noted. Considering the preferences of library users when selecting chemistry titles is stressed. The necessity of reviewing books in the chemistry collection at least every five years to account for advances in research is cited. A bibliography of recommended books for school and university libraries is presented.
