      The present article discloses the employment and both the direct and indirect income multipliers for the Brazilian economy, with emphasis on the paper and pulp industry. In order to carry out the present project, the first step was to estimate the 2003 Brazilian input-output matrix and identify the key sectors of the Brazilian economy. The next step was to obtain the employment and income multipliers. When compared to the 41 activities included in the matrix, the paper and printing employment and income multipliers were placed in the nineteenth and sixth positions, respectively.       Este artigo apresenta os multiplicadores de emprego e renda direto e indireto da economia brasileira, dando ênfase à indústria de papel e celulose. O primeiro passo na realização do trabalho foi estimar a matriz de insumo-produto do Brasil em 2003; na seqüência, foram identificados os setores-chave da economia brasileira. Em seguida, obtiveram-se os multiplicadores de emprego e renda. Os multiplicadores de emprego e renda para a atividade de Papel e Gráfica ficaram na décima nona e na sexta posições, respectivamente, quando confrontados com as 41 atividades incluídas na matriz.
