- Abstract:
The article reports that while Colgate-Palmolive Co. has begun removing the antibacterial compound triclosan from its dish soap, replacing it with lactic acid, it continues to include triclosan as an ingredient in its Colgate Total brand toothpaste. The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has begun a review of triclosan in consumer products, which it approved for use in small amounts in 1972.
