- Abstract:
The article discusses issues related to banning the antibacterial product triclosan, found in a variety of household products. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued a 60-day comment period on December 8, 2010, for a petition to ban triclosan. Beyond Pesticides and Food and Water Watch led the petition which was signed by several public health officials and environmental groups. Triclosan can resist antibiotics and may have adverse affects on fetal growth and development.
